What is the best vitamin supplements for people who's depressed and sick during the winter time?
I think it's due to lack of sunlight and ain't getting enough vitamins in my system so is there any vitamin supplements you can get at a drug store (walgreens, walmart). I've been very really depressed, sick and white as a ghost.

- talk to your doctor about a light lamp, there are special lamps that mimic the light you get from sunshine, and can really pick up your mood. St. John's Wort, found in supplement stores is used in Europe for mild depression and may help you also, but be sure to check that it will not interfere with any other medications you may be taking.
- Sunshine..go outside... Vitamin D, Omega Fish Oils, Exercise
- It is good to take a daily vitamin (such as Centrum), however most herbal supplements do not actually have an effect. Most of it is psychological. I always tend to discourage people from taking them. Not only do they not have evidence of working, but they can interact with almost any other medication the person could be taking. I suggest doing non-medication things, such as keeping the room well lite, lighting candles, opening the window on sunny days, maybe picking up some hobbies to keep busy, find some networking sites on the internet (for those snowy days when you cant get out). I find myself more depressed during the winter as well, sometimes to the point of crying. I really try to do some of those things to distracted myself. It isnt going to help all the time, but there is a good chance of an improvement. However, if you are physically sick (cold, flu, etc), that is a different story. You should go to your doctor and get medication to kill whatever bacteria is involved. I really hope you feel better.
